UTA helps with nursing shortage
The Childress Regional Medical Center will partner with The University of Texas at Arlington’s College of Nursing and Health Innovation to offer local prospective nursing students the opportunity to stay in the community. The partnership is part of an effort to tackle the nursing shortage in rural communities, KFDA News 10 in Amarillo reported. The 15-month program will consist of online coursework and clinic experiences that take place at Childress Regional Medical Center.

Scholarship winner
Xavien Johns, a junior business marketing major at UT Arlington, received a $2,000 scholarship from the Arlington Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Committee for winning its 2021 Collegiate Essay Contest, Patch.com reported. The event organizers are encouraging the Arlington community to make Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day a "day on, not a day off" from work.

Job market for recent grads

Michael Ward, UTA economics professor, answered questions concerning the job market for recent graduates on Zippia, a platform for job-seekers. Professors and experts from several universities and companies offered their opinions on where the job market for recent graduates is heading, as well as how young graduates entering the industry can be adequately prepared.

Russia and Belarus relations

Brian Whitmore, UTA assistant professor and nonresident senior fellow at the Atlantic Council’s Eurasia Center, wrote a piece for the Atlantic Council examining the tense relations growing between Russia and Belarus. Cooperation between the two countries spanning more than two decades appears increasingly unsustainable in the face of economic uncertainty and political upheaval.
