COVID vaccines for children
After an FDA advisory panel recommended the Pfizer vaccine for children ages 5-11, Erin Carlson, the director of graduate public health programs at The University of Texas at Arlington, spoke with KRLD 1080 AM about the topic as an expert in community-based infectious diseases.
Proposed Lake Arlington development
UT Arlington students created a master plan for a proposed lakefront park that includes space for a marina, amphitheater, yacht club and educational facilities, NBC 5 reported. Living Waters, a local nonprofit, is raising money to develop an eight-acre site just off the 6000 block of Wilbarger Street along Lake Arlington into an educational and entertainment attraction.
Stay focused with feedback and goals
A new study from UT Arlington shows that in order for individuals to sustain their attention on a task over a long period of time, goal-setting is effective but receiving feedback produces a much stronger effect, ScienMag and U.S. Fed News reported. “Sustaining one’s attention is notoriously difficult. The longer that an individual performs a task, the worse their performance tends to be,” said Matthew Robison, UT Arlington assistant professor of psychology and first author of the study.
