Roadway Repairs

A UTA researcher is using plastic to help improve Texas road conditions, Spectrum News and U.S. Fed News report. Sahadat Hossain, civil engineering professor, received a $950,000 state grant for the project, which will use plastic waste products to fill in surface cracks and reduce rutting in roads.

Saving Her Family

A UTA nursing student helped bring her Ukrainian cousins to the U.S. after Russia invaded, the Houston Chronicle reports. Olexandra Shevchenko and her mother traveled to Poland to rescue her cousins from the conflict.

Supporting First-Gen Students

Irving-based electricity company Vistra is continuing its support of UTA first-generation students with a $25,000 gift to fund scholarships, Targeted News Service reports.

Tik Tok Ban

Governor Greg Abbott has released a statewide plan for banning the use of Tik Tok, Fox 4 reports. UTA is cited as one of the Texas colleges that has banned the use of the social media platform on state-issued devices and university networks.
