Parking help

Sharareh (Sherri) Kermanshachi, a UT Arlington associate professor of civil engineering, has partnered with Modii (formerly known as Spot Parking), the UTA Department of Parking and Transportation Services and the North Central Texas Council of Governments to develop and evaluate a digital map for UTA parking lots that will allow motorists to electronically access available parking spaces ArlingtonTX.gov, MReport and U.S. Fed News reported. The project is funded by a $500,148 two-year grant.

 

Tracking sediment

Yu Zhang, a UTA associate professor in the Department of Civil Engineering, received a $180,000 General Land Office grant to assess the amount of sediment transported from Texas rivers to the Gulf of Mexico, Targeted News Service reported. The project will fill in an information gap for the state by determining how much sediment is lost by Texas rivers to the ocean.

 

Powwow event
The University of Texas at Arlington’s Native American Student Association hosted the 27th annual Scholarship Benefit Powwow, a social, spiritual and educational day-long event March 11 at the Maverick Activity Center, The Dallas Morning News reported.
