About the Observatory

About us

UTA Observatory is the newest teaching and outreach facility located at UTA Campus built on a top floor of a parking garage (Park Central). The observatory is equipped with an outreach grade 16” Meade LX200 Astronomical telescope with modern professional image capturing instruments under nearly 14-feet wide dome.  The facility is designed to provide spectacular views of the Moon, Solar System, and deep space objects for students and public, in addition to teach students on gathering and processing scientific data from the sky. Unique location of the observatory allows hosting large night classes, public star parties and viewing nights with plenty of parking space available. UTA Observatory is the only facility in the Dallas/Fort Worth metro area to offer public viewing programs.
