THE WATERSHED URBANISM TOUR IN NORTH TEXAS: LEWISVILLE GRAND THEATER

Wednesday, Aug 17, 2022

The exhibition Watershed Urbanism and the DFW Metroplex by the University of Texas Arlington’s College of Architecture, Planning and Public Affairs opens at Lewisville Grand Theater on Saturday, August 20th. The exhibition focuses on the Trinity River watershed in North Texas and showcases research and innovative designs by UTA Faculty and students. The exhibition features design projects that respond to the challenges of the built environments that enlarge with and incorporate water flows and aquatic life. As the population of North Texas grows, we are challenging cities to address both the limitations and possibilities of urban watersheds and adjacent lands that contribute runoff.

Maria Martinez-Cosio, CAPPA interim dean, said the exhibit spotlights issues that are critical to this region. “We’re especially excited to see the exhibit make its way throughout the Metroplex this year allowing many to see, study and learn from the work being done throughout this region,” Martinez-Cosio said.

Initially displayed at the 2021 Venice Architecture Biennale, the exhibit was featured alongside some of the most highly regarded works by leading designers across the world. Its return to the United States began with an opening reception at the University of Texas at Arlington followed by display at the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History. The exhibition will be at the Lewisville Grand Theater from August 20th to September 17th, 2022, and then on display at the Texas Discovery Gardens during the Texas State Fair from September 29th to October 23rd, 2022.
