The University of Texas at Arlington's School of Social Work held its Fall Commencement Ceremony Friday, Dec. 15, graduating two PhD, 150 master and 100 bachelor students.
The ceremony, held at Globe Life Field in Arlington, was a testament to the dedication and hard work of these students as they stepped into the next chapter of their lives, equipped with the knowledge and skills gained during their time in the Bachelor of Science in Substance Use and Treatment, Bachelor of Social Work, Master of Social Work and PhD in Social Work programs.
"I’m very excited and happy! It just proves with discipline and hard work anything is possible," BSW graduate Andrea Salas said.
The two doctoral students, representing the pinnacle of academic achievement in the field, were recognized for their substantial contributions to social work research and scholarship. Their dedication to advancing knowledge in the field was applauded.
"It feels good. It feels like a big relief to get this done. Now it’s just on to the next chapter and then the next chapter,” said BSW graduate Stephen Silva-Brave, reflecting on his academic journey. The next chapter for Silva-Brave is entering the MSW program in January.
The School of Social Work at UTA takes pride in preparing graduates for careers promoting social justice, community development, and individual well-being. The diverse array of programs offered from undergraduate to doctoral level ensures students receive a comprehensive education equipping them with the ability to address the complex challenges of contemporary society.
“It feels so surreal! Four years of work finally paid off. I’m so excited for this journey,” BSW graduate Anadja Tamofo said.
The ceremony concluded with a triumphant procession of graduates, symbolizing the collective achievements of the School of Social Work community.
