The University of Texas at Arlington School of Social Work recognized student achievement and celebrated graduating students during the Celebration of Excellence held May 1 and the university’s Commencement Ceremony on May 3.
The Celebration of Excellence honored students across all academic programs and highlighted academic achievement, leadership and service within the School of Social Work. The event included a hooding ceremony for doctoral and Master of Social Work students, the presentation of cords to Bachelor of Social Work students, and special recognitions for outstanding student achievement.

The Celebration of Excellence also featured the Social Work pinning ceremony, a tradition marking students’ formal entry into the profession.
During the event, the Outstanding BSW Student Award was presented to Trey Weir, while Kylee Peck received the Outstanding MSW Student Award in recognition of academic excellence, leadership and commitment to social work values.
The school also recognized Amna Hamdan with the Outstanding Student Advocacy Award. The award honors a student who has demonstrated exceptional leadership, initiative and a strong commitment to advancing efforts that create meaningful and lasting impact both within the university and the broader community.
The Commencement Ceremony, held at Globe Life Field, marked the completion of degrees for School of Social Work students across all levels. This semester’s graduating class included one doctoral student, 161 Master of Social Work students, 117 Bachelor of Social Work students and two Bachelor of Science in Substance Use Treatment students.
Faculty, staff and school leadership congratulated graduates and recognized the dedication and perseverance required to complete their degrees. Graduates were encouraged to carry forward the profession’s commitment to advocacy, ethical practice and service to individuals, families and communities.
