• Requirements to Drive Any UTA Vehicle
    - Must be a UTA employee on payroll, i.e. Active Employee of the University
    - Must have a valid Drivers’ License
    - Must have an acceptable 3-year (36 months) Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
    - Complete the Defensive Driving Awareness Training (DDAT). Course certificate is valid for three (3) years.

  • Requirements to Drive 12&15 Passenger Van
    - Meet all requirements to Drive a UTA Vehicle above
    - Complete 12 & 15 Passenger Van Online Training Course
    - Attend Van Behind-the Wheel Training at EH&S Office

To request authorization to drive UTA vehicles:

Note: MVR check can only be performed after record of training is on file. The University can run this report on Texas driver's licenses only. If the driver’s license was issued out of state, the driver must provide the driving history record to EH&S department.

Timeline: Allow up to five (5) business days for processing. Once an Authorized Driver, MVRs are checked regularly to ensure ongoing eligibility.
