Program Overview

UTA’s biomedical engineering degree program is the second-oldest in North Texas and has enjoyed a partnership with UT Southwestern for more than 50 years, expanding opportunities for students to pursue research in a top-rated clinical environment.

The Doctor of Philosophy in Biomedical Engineering is jointly offered by The University of Texas at Arlington and The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas (UT Southwestern). Research and teaching efforts of various departments in the biological, engineering, mathematical, physical, and medical sciences of both institutions are coordinated through the Committee on Graduate Studies in Biomedical Engineering.

Makerspaces Across Campus

UTA’s Central Library FabLab boasts 8,000-square-feet of makerspace featuring 3D printers, laser cutters, screen printers, kilns, and much more for learners from any discipline or experience level. In addition to the FabLab, the College of Engineering boasts four makerspaces with a variety of equipment available to students who wish to create prototypes or complete projects.
