Thursday, Aug 13, 2026 • UTA College of Business : CONTACT

Catherine Hinton has been three years at UTA as an Undergraduate Academic Advisor to Finance and Marketing majors. What she loves most about her job is building meaningful connections with students that support them throughout their academic careerThe most rewarding experience for her is seeing those "lightbulb moments" when a student's path becomes clear, and they gain confidence in their next steps. Outside of work, she's a social justice advocator, community volunteer, and avid traveler. Catherine loves exploring new places, learning about history, experiencing culture, and connecting with people from diverse backgrounds. She also enjoys spending time with her family and friends, staying connected to the people and causes that matter most to her.

Favorite lunch spot

I don’t really have a favorite lunch spot, but I do love finding a good coffee shop. The Civil Pour and George Coffee + Provisions are two of my favorite places. They have great coffee, welcoming atmospheres, and are perfect for relaxing and catching up with friends.

Favorite book, movie or TV show

The Wizard of Oz is both my favorite book and movie. I read the complete 14-book Oz series as a child, loved the movie, and still watch it to this day. It is still one of my all-time favorites.

If you could instantly master any skill, what would it be and why?

If I could instantly master any skill, it would be the ability to speak another language fluently. As someone who enjoys traveling, it would make experiences in other countries more meaningful and immersive.

What is one piece of advice you wish every student could hear?

One piece of advice I wish every student could hear is: Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Many students believe they must figure everything out on their own, but seeking guidance is a strength, not a weakness. Ask that question in class, meet with an advisor, talk to your professor, or reach out for support, there are people who genuinely want to help you succeed. It’s okay not to have everything figured out right away. Your path may change; stay open to new opportunities, trust the process, and keep moving forward.
