Meet Your Advisor – Harold Hankerson
Harold Hankerson has been at UTA for five years as an Undergraduate Academic Advisor to Accounting, Economics and International Business majors. What he enjoys most about his job is getting to see the students he has worked with walk at the commencement ceremony. Outside of work, you can find Harold enjoying photography or going to a car and motorcycle show.

Favorite lunch spot?
My favorite spot near campus is Gilberto's. My go-to items are the super fries burrito, loaded fries, or chicken quesadilla.
Favorite book, movie or TV show?
My favorite movie is probably a toss up between Pulp fiction (Tarantino) and Cabin in the woods (Goddard/Whedon). I don't usually read books for pleasure, but I enjoy authors Anne Rice, Larry Niven, and Isaac Asimov. For TV shows I usually watch anime series like GITS, but I will indulge in Mech or Isekai sometimes. HBO's Westworld and Game of Thrones started out great but IYKYK.

If you could instantly master any skill, what would it be and why?
I would like to master the ability to quickly learn languages. I think a lot can be gained from better communication between people. Not only knowing the words but the nuance of context and culture. Sure there are translators for text and speech that are getting better, but it is not the same as a real conversation.
What is one piece of advice you wish every student could hear?
When it comes to experiences, take the risk and calculate for it to be successful. Trying something new, good or bad will give you knowledge that you can only gain from trying.
