Gain clinical knowledge and hands-on expertise to support athletes and active individuals through injury prevention, evaluation, and rehabilitation. UTA’s MSAT program strengthens this foundation with an exceptional first-time Board of Certification (BOC) exam pass rate—well above the national average—alongside a wide variety of clinical sites and expert preceptors. Students complete five semesters of clinical education, including 26 weeks of immersive clinical experiences that can be completed in the DFW area or across the country. Built on four core pillars—Performance Healthcare, Emergency Preparedness & Response, Manual Therapy & Integrative Modalities, and Administration & Leadership—the program prepares graduates for certification, licensure, and dynamic roles in athletic healthcare and sports medicine.

The Master of Science in Athletic Training is a two-year, cohort-based professional program designed to prepare students for the Board of Certification (BOC) examination and athletic training licensure. Coursework combines scientific theory, critical inquiry, and applied clinical education focused on injury prevention, assessment and diagnosis, acute care, and therapeutic interventions.
The program also offers an accelerated 3+2 pathway that allows students to complete both a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science and a Master of Science in Athletic Training in five years. Careful advising is recommended to ensure timely progression into the MSAT program.
Students benefit from in-depth classroom and laboratory instruction, nationally recognized faculty, experienced clinical preceptors, and clinical rotation opportunities in sports medicine settings.
