The Mindful Professor: Prioritizing Well-being for Effective Teaching

We all experience the too busy 'itis', particularly during the beginning, midterm & final parts of each semester, especially during the long semesters. This interactive workshop will include key tips to reduce burnout, be productive & BREATHE through these times. It will include group discussions & 'presentations' of findings from each group! These strategies will directly support your ability to be a more present and effective educator for your students. This session is hybrid. A light lunch will be provided for in-person attendees.

CRTLE is partnering with the UTA Libraries for this special Test Kitchen session. Bring your favorite “side dish” to the table—except this time, it’s your teaching materials! Just like a potluck, everyone contributes something they already have or have remixed to support their teaching. In this hands‑on, 30‑minute guided session, participants will walk through the full recipe for turning an existing course resource into a side‑dish‑sized Open Educational Resource (OER). No need to start from scratch—facilitators will help you refine, remix, and prepare your resource so others can benefit from it too.

Words That Work: A Wise Feedback Approach for Faculty (SEP Mini-Workshop)

Students often receive feedback but never read it; and when they do, it doesn't always land the way instructors intend. This session introduces faculty to Wise Feedback, one of the Student Experience Project's Three to Thrive pillars, a research-backed approach to commenting on student work that communicates high standards, genuine belief in student potential, and a clear intent to support growth. By the end of this session, faculty will be able to write and personalize Wise Feedback Framing Statements in their courses, identify the channels and moments to deliver wise feedback most effectively, and understand how to encourage students to engage with, and act on, the feedback they receive.

The Peer Observation of Teaching Training is a hands‑on, practice‑based workshop designed to help UTA faculty develop the skills and confidence needed to conduct meaningful, constructive peer observations aligned with university policy and evidence‑based teaching practices. This training guides participants through the full peer‑observation cycle including pre‑observation consultation, data‑focused classroom observation strategies for face‑to‑face, hybrid, and online formats, and effective post‑observation feedback rooted in giving actionable, respectful feedback that promotes continuous improvement.
