- Applicants must be currently enrolled UTA students during the semester they seek financial assistance.
- Applicants must demonstrate a temporary financial hardship resulting from a sudden emergency, accident, or unforeseen event.
- The student’s capability to attend UTA must be at jeopardy due to the emergency.
- Applicants must have an overall UTA GPA of 2.0 or higher and be in good standing per the Dean of Students Office.
- Other possible financial resources must have been considered and are determined to be insufficient or not available in a timely manner.
- Funds are awarded only to the student recipient.
- Applications must be able to provide sufficient documentation. Follow up requests from the awarding committee are common.
- Students are only eligible to apply for an EAF grant one time during their enrollment period at UTA.

Application
- Proper documentation must be provided with the application. This may include, but is not limited to:
- Documentation of the emergency/crisis. Examples include doctor’s notes, insurance claims, etc. If it is a medical emergency, specific health related details are not required.
- Bills or invoices for payments to be made (as applicable). These invoices should be as detailed as possible and include the applicant’s name, date, vendor, etc.
- A representative from the EAF Committee will contact the student if more information is needed.
- The student will receive a notice of their application being approved or denied through their UTA email account.
- If an EAF award is granted, funds will become available through a student’s Financial Aid portal. The process may take up to two weeks.
- The maximum award is one-time funding of $500.
Application
Typical covered expenses include, but are not limited to:
- Medical bills
- Automobile repair bills
- Housing expenses related to eviction that are tied to an emergency such as a job loss, health event, accident, etc.
- Utilities such as water and electricity bills, etc. that are tied to an emergency such as a job loss, health event, accident, etc.
- Replacement of essential personal items due to a fire, natural disaster, or theft
- Funds for immediate emergency shelter
- Safety needs, such as changing locks on vehicle or home
Typical expenses not covered include, but are not limited to:
- Tuition, lab fees
- UTA Housing
- UTA Dining
- Health insurance
- Internship or study abroad costs
- Application, test, or placement fees
- Household costs considered typical that are not related to damage, theft, or other emergencies
- Costs for entertainment or recreation
- Costs related to animal care unless the animal has been registered as a service animal with the UTA Student Access Resource Center (SAR)
- Expenditures that occurred because of poor financial management rather than an emergency
- Living expenses, including medical expenses, needed for a family member or friend of the student requesting services
- Legal fees
- Non-emergency travel or other non-essential expenses
