At UTA, we believe that being a parent should not stop you from reaching your education goals. Whether you're expecting a baby, caring for a young child, or balancing schoolwork with family life, we have resources and support designed just for you.
Here, you'll find information about helpful resources, how to connect with people across campus, and information about your rights as a parenting student. UTA also has a dedicated Student Parent Liaison that can provide guidance and support.

What does your Student Parent Liaison do?
This person helps connect you with resources, answers your questions, and works to make sure your needs as a student parent are met.
- Connects you with campus resources like financial aid, basic needs, counseling, childcare, and academic support
- Answers questions about your rights as a pregnant or parenting student
- Helps you navigate campus policies and procedures
- Assists with reasonable adjustments that you might need for your classes
- Provides referrals to community resources and support services
- Listens and supports you as you balance school and family
Early Registration: Self-Identify as Student Parent for Priority Registration
As a student parent, you have the right to register early for your classes. Early registration gives you a chance to choose class times before courses fill up. This can help you build a schedule around childcare, work or school hours, helping you stay on track toward graduation. Students who are the parent or legal guardian of a child under 18 years old qualifies for early registration.
To ensure you are assigned the correct priority registration date, please complete your self-identification at least one month before priority registration begins for the upcoming term. Step-by-step instructions on how to self-identify as student parent can be found below.

Once you're logged in, select the Personal Information tile.

Next, select the Biographic tab.
Next, from the Demographic information, select Parent/Legal Guardian?.

Then, from the Parent/Legal Guardian drop-down menu, choose either Yes or No and select Save.

Lastly, this will update the status of the Parent/Legal Guardian? status on the Biographic tab.
