Asian Pacific Islander Heritage and Older American Month

In May, we celebrate Asian Pacific American Heritage Month. During Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, communities celebrate the achievements and contributions of Asian and Pacific Americans. This is done by organizing community festivals, government-sponsored activities and educational activities for students. In honoring the contributions of Asian, Pacific Islander and Desi Americans, we also acknowledge the lived experiences of members of these communities, both past and present today. This contains deeply meaningful accomplishments, vibrant cultural contributions, and challenging hate, violence and racism.

Every May is also known as Older Americans Month. Older adults have built resilience and strength over their lives through successes, failures, joys, and difficulties. At this time across the nation, we celebrate the contributions seniors have made in their communities. Older Americans Month is celebrated across the country through ceremonies, events, fairs, and other such activities.
