Program Overview

Learn what to expect and what the program offers.

UTA’s Master of Public Health (MPH) is a student-centered, practice-focused program offering two concentrations to align with career goals. The Urban Health concentration emphasizes community health assessment, program evaluation, social justice, and advocacy, while the Epidemiology concentration focuses on analyzing health trends through the study of chronic and infectious diseases in urban populations.

Coursework is structured to build applied skills used in real-world public health settings, with flexible scheduling to support professionals. Our faculty are experienced public health practitioners who integrate current industry practices into the classroom. Community-based projects and interdisciplinary collaboration help students gain hands-on experience addressing health needs in diverse populations.

As one of the few programs in the nation—and the only one in Texas—offering a concentration in urban health, the MPH provides a distinctive focus on improving health outcomes in complex, evolving communities.
