Program Overview
The UTA Graduate Certificate for Diversity and Equity in Public Health addresses North Texas' growing demand for professionals with training in skills to improve health equity. To address this need, the University of Texas at Arlington has created an in-person post-baccalaureate, non-degree program to provide current and future working professionals with the knowledge and skills currently needed in public health practice, health care, and health-related non-profits and industries that facilitate equitable health practices. Through completing the certificate, students will gain graduate level introductory knowledge and skill sets in conducting community interventions to improve health equity. The Graduate Certificate for Diversity and Equity in Public Health is well-suited for several key audiences:
- Those who work in health care or public health who seek training in the social determinants of health and skills to improve health equity in their place of work;
- Professionals with advanced degrees in fields such as public health, kinesiology, athletic training, physical therapy, nutrition, medicine, and nursing who desire to complement their health career knowledge with training in diversity and equity;
- UTA graduate students who would like to enhance their graduate training with knowledge of health concepts related to diversity and equity.
