Undergraduate Kinesiology Advisors

Students pursuing the following undergraduate Kinesiology degrees will be advised by the undergraduate Kinesiology advisors in the CONHI Office of Enrollment and Student Services:

  • Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology
  • Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science
  • Bachelor of Science in Public Health 

Same Day Advising Appointments

Same day in-person advising appointments are available Monday – Thursday on a first-come, first-serve basis.  Each morning, same day advising schedules will be made available.  To schedule a same day in-person appointment, students must visit the Office of Enrollment and Student Services in 554 Pickard Hall.  Same day advising appointments will close once all available slots are filled.

Freshman/Undeclared Students: Current freshman and undeclared students with less than 45 hours are advised in the University Advising and Engagement Center (UAEC). Please visit the UAEC website for more information about contacting and scheduling to meet with a UAEC academic advisor.

Before Your Appointment:

  1. Have a list of questions prepared to ask your advisor.
  2. Familiarize yourself with your degree plan requirements and begin to formulate a plan of action for future semesters.
  3. Familiarize yourself with course descriptions, requirements, and prerequisites.
  4. Make arrangements to be on time for your advising appointment. Students who arrive 10 minutes or more late will be rescheduled.

Virtual Information Sessions

Prospective undergraduate students are encouraged to attend a Virtual Information Session to learn more about the majors in the Department of Kinesiology. Sessions are held virtually every other Thursday. Click here to access the Virtual Information Session calendar and registration information.

Graduate Kinesiology Advisors 

The Graduate Kinesiology Programs are dedicated to the overall success and retention of our students. One process that contributes to this goal is by providing academic advising to prospective and enrolled students.

Students pursuing the following Graduate Kinesiology degrees will be advised by the Graduate Kinesiology advisors:

  • Master of Science in Athletic Training (MSAT)
  • Master of Science in Exercise Science
  • Master of Public Health (MPH)
  • Doctor of Philosophy in Kinesiology (PhD)

Current Student and Prospective Student Advising

Current students are encouraged to meet with the Kinesiology Graduate Advisor as needed. Students may schedule face-to-face or virtual advising appointments.

MS in Exercise Science and MPH prospective students are encouraged meet with the Graduate Kinesiology Advisor to discuss program requirements and admissions.

MSAT prospective students are encouraged to attend an optional academic advising session before program application and start. Those students who have not yet applied or enrolled in the MSAT program are welcome to contact the MSAT Program Director to schedule a face-to-face, phone, or virtual advising appointment.

Research Focus: My research focus is on the integrative physiology of vascular function in health and disease and how the immune system, adipose tissue and blood vessels interact to mediate vascular dysfunction with hypertension, aging and metabolic abnormalities. Also, in how physical activity influences these systems to promote vascular health.

Research Focus: My research focuses on evaluating epidemiologic factors that influence individuals’ health-related behaviors, morbidity, and mortality across the life course using large data sources. I have an extensive background in epidemiologic and large database analysis and training of medical learners on how to analyze national health surveys, such as the National Health Interview Survey (NHIS), Medical Expenditure Panel Survey (MEPS), Health Information National Trends Survey (HINTS), Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance system (BRFSS), and National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) datasets.
