The individual will have an independent program of research and will collaborate with colleagues in Nursing, Kinesiology and Public Health within the college and with other disciplines across the university. Opportunities for collaboration in conducting research are extensive at UTA.

CONHI seeks a faculty member who meets the qualifications for appointment at the rank of full professor with tenure to teach and conduct research-demonstrating leadership in gerontological nursing education. We seek a faculty member with outstanding qualifications who shares the University’s core values of high standards of excellence in innovative and collaborative research, combined with fostering an open and inclusive environment that promotes participation of underrepresented groups in research. 

The College of Nursing is particularly interested in recruiting a senior nurse scientist who can make a significant contribution to the college’s overarching theme of programming and research in health and disease across the lifespan, with a focus on advancing health and the human condition through excellence in Gerontological nursing. 

The ideal candidate will have a broad understanding of nursing and healthcare needs of older adults. Relevant research backgrounds will include expertise in clinical and/or outcome research important to advancing the health and quality of life of older adults.

We are particularly interested in recruiting innovative scientists who can make a significant contribution to the college’s overarching theme of programming and research in health and disease across the lifespan, with a focus on advancing health and the human condition. Ideal candidates will have a broad understanding and interest in interdisciplinary studies. Research on how social determinants of health affect the health of populations is valued. Relevant research backgrounds may include evaluation, health disparities, social determinants of health, and social and economic development among others.

Successful candidates are expected to demonstrate a commitment to diversity and equity in education through their teaching, research and service. In addition, candidates in their early career must demonstrate strong potential to develop a research program supported by external funding, while more established candidates must demonstrate active, externally funded research agendas.

Most CONHI funded researchers have laboratory and office space located in the new Science and Engineering Innovation & Research building, a state-of-the-art research facility, which is the signature center for life and health science research at UTA.
