Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible to apply for participation in the CRCJ 4390 Internship program, students must meet the following requirements from the University:

  • Be a CRCJ major at UTA with Junior or Senior status (60+ credit hours completed) in the semester in which the student is enrolled in the course. A minimum of 12 completed credit hours must be CRCJ/PSYC/SOCI/POLS/SOCW/ANTH courses1.
  • CRCJ majors at UTA may be required by the host agency to have a specified GPA.
  • Be in good academic standing (a minimum of 2.0 GPA). Verified by your MAP report.
  • Be able to complete a minimum of 112 internship hours (for 3 credit hours, approximately 10 hours per week) or 224 internship hours (for 6 credit hours, approximately 20 hours per week) during the semester of enrollment.
    • NOTE: Students can participate in more than 112 internship hours in one semester but cannot earn more than 3 credit hours for CRCJ 4390 in one semester unless they complete at least 224 internship hours. Students completing 112 internship hours may enroll in the course for up to two semesters to earn a total of six credit hours.

Note: To verify your courses and GPA, students will retrieve their Maverick Academic Progress Plan (MAPP) and submit it with their CRCJ 4390 Internship application.

  • You can save a PDF copy of your MAP plan by following these steps:
    • Select View Advisement Report → View Report as PDF → Save (💾) Button

Once all eligibility requirements have been met, students may begin applying for internship opportunities. When students have been accepted at an agency, they must complete the CRCJ 4390 Internship Application here and submit the supporting documents.
