Helpful Information
- Interns will not intentionally be placed in dangerous situations; however, accidents can occur. The host agency, The University of Texas at Arlington, the CRCJ Department, and individuals associated with the internship program are not liable for injuries, accidents, loss, or damages incurred during participation in the internship program.
- It is solely the discretion of the host agency if any compensation is paid to an intern.
- Official communication with interns during the semester will occur through the student’s UTA email account, which serves as the university’s official means of communication. Students are expected to check their emails daily. Personal email addresses cannot and will not be used for university communication.
- An intern’s host agency may have further requirements for internship eligibility, such as being able to pass a criminal background check, pass a urinalysis, be a U.S. citizen, have health insurance or car insurance. Speak to your host agency’s internship coordinator for more information.
- Interns in the program represent UTA as an institution and the Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice, as well as themselves. Therefore, all selected students are expected to represent all of these interests positively and professionally.
- The internship director is not responsible for placing students into internships but may assist in providing information regarding available internship opportunities.
- Participation in an internship does not automatically grant academic credit. Students must be approved for and enrolled in the CRCJ 4390 Internship Course to receive academic credit.
