Have you ever wondered why people think, act, and make decisions the way they do?

MYPSYC is a five-day immersive experience designed for high school students (age 16+) who are curious about psychology, human behavior, and scientific research. Participants will explore how psychologists investigate the brain, behavior, technology, health, and the workplace through hands-on demonstrations, collaborative research activities, and guided experiments.

Students will learn how psychologists apply research methods to understand behavior and mental processes while gaining practical experience in designing and conducting their own investigations.

What Students Will Learn

Throughout the week, students will explore several major areas of psychology and behavioral science:

  • Health Psychology: When do people follow — or ignore — medical advice?
  • Cognitive Psychology: When can we trust our memory and decision-making?
  • Social Psychology: When does peer influence shape our behavior?
  • Cyber Psychology: When does technology influence identity and social interaction?
  • Industrial / Organizational Psychology: When do motivation, leadership, and teamwork influence workplace success?
  • Neuroscience: When do brain processes shape the choices we make?

Hands-On Learning Experience

Students will engage in a variety of structured learning activities designed to introduce them to psychological research methods and scientific inquiry. Activities include:

  • Guided demonstrations of psychological phenomena
  • Experimental activities exploring human behavior and cognition
  • Collaborative research project with fellow participants
  • Data interpretation and discussion of research findings
  • A personal psychology workbook to support learning and reflection

These activities allow students to experience psychology as a science, not just a subject to read about.
