The Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction offers four flexible degree options to support professional growth in teaching, leadership, and applied research. All programs are 30 credit hours, including coursework that is available fully online and options for face-to-face learning.
Students may choose from specialized pathways in Literacy Education, Mathematics Education, and Science Education, each focused on evidence-based, inquiry-driven teaching strategies. The Literacy Education option also offers pathways to Texas certifications in ESL and Reading Specialist for qualified educators. The Open Option allows students to tailor coursework to their professional goals, whether pursuing certifications or building expertise in a specific academic area.
Guided by award-winning faculty actively engaged in research, students gain practical skills and leadership experience that translate to roles in classrooms, schools, and district-level positions.

UTA offers 4 Graduate Certificate programs that prepare students to be certified educators in Texas.
The Alternative Certification Program (ACP) is a 100% online, non-credit program for candidates who hold a bachelor’s degree and want to pursue a teaching career.
The Hispanic Serving Leadership (HSL) Preparation Graduate Certificate is an in-person/on-campus program for educators interested in empowering Hispanic student success. This 12-credit-hour certification has no GRE requirement.
The Certificate in Instructional Learning Design and Technology is a non-thesis, 100% online program with no GRE requirement. This 12-credit curriculum is designed for PreK-12 teachers, university professors, corporate instructors, and other education professionals.
The Principal Certification Only Program offers 100% accelerated online classes (no GRE required) to students who already have a master's degree, are certified to teach in Texas, and want to advance their career in PreK-12 education.
