Scholarships

The Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences has several endowed scholarships for undergraduate and graduate students. Most of the scholarships are for juniors and seniors majoring in geology. The application deadline is typically in early spring in each year, and details will be announced through emails to listserves. These scholarships are mostly merit based, but some of them also consider financial need of students. The applications will be reviewed by department scholarship committee and the recipients will be informed through https://uta.academicworks.com by early May. 

  1. Boone, J.D. Scholarship (undergraduate students majoring in Geology)
  2. Patricia and Charles Jenkins Scholarship (undergraduate students majoring in Geology)
  3. Donald F. Reaser Scholarship (undergraduate students majoring in Geology)
  4. Fort Worth Wildcatters Association Scholarship (undergraduate students majoring in Geology and interested in working for petroleum industry)
  5. Spindletop Oil & Gas Co. Undergraduate Scholarship (undergraduate students majoring in one of the EES programs)
  6. Spindletop Oil & Gas Co. Graduate Fellowship (graduate students enrolled in one of the EES programs)
  7. North Central Texas Region of the Texas Water Utilities Association Scholarship (undergraduate students majoring in Environmental Science, Geology, Biology or Chemistry, and interested in environmental professions)
  8. Wanda Slagle Scholarship (undergraduate students majoring in Geology)

 

In addition to the department scholarship, the College of Science has the following four scholarships applicable to EES students. Applications are also through https://uta.academicworks.com and the deadlines are generally in late January.

  1. Dean’s Excellence Scholarship (undergraduate and graduate students)
  2. Ann H. Benham Scholarship (undergraduate students, preference is given to women)
  3. Bobbitt Family Endowed Scholarship (Ph.D. students)
  4. Dr. Franklyn Alexander Scholarship (undergraduate and graduate students from small towns)
