Scholarships

The Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences has several endowed scholarships for undergraduate and graduate students. Most of the scholarships are for geology BS majors and used to help students attend field camp. The GPA requirement for all scholarships is 3.0. Please access https://uta.academicworks.com to find details of requirement and finish application. The application deadline is typically March 1st each year. The applications will be reviewed by department scholarship committee and awardees will be informed through academicworks by early May. 

  1. Boone, J.D. Scholarship (undergraduate students major in Geology)
  2. Donald F. Reaser Scholarship (undergraduate students major in Geology)
  3. Wanda Slagle Scholarship (undergraduate students major in Geology)
  4. Fort Worth Wildcatters Association Scholarship (undergraduate students major in Geology and interested in working for petroleum industry)
  5. Spindletop Oil & Gas Co. Undergraduate Scholarship (undergraduate students major in Geology and interested in working for petroleum industry)
  6. Spindletop Oil & Gas Co. Graduate Fellowship (EES MS graduate students interested in working for petroleum industry)
  7. North Central Texas Region of the Texas Water Utilities Association Scholarship (undergraduate students majoring in Environmental Science, Geology, Biology or Chemistry, and interested in environmental professions)

In addition to the department scholarship, the College of Science has the following two scholarships. Applications are also through https://uta.academicworks.com and the deadlines are generally in late January.

  1. Dean’s Excellence Scholarship (undergraduate and graduate students)
  2. Ann H. Benham Scholarship (undergraduate students, preference is given to women)
