Welcome to the Department of EES

Arne WinguthGreetings,
Thank you for your interest in the UTA Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences. As part of a Research I, urban public university, our mission is to advance the field of geosciences and the environment, to communicate knowledge through education, and to nourish diverse scholars through research and education in a sustainable academic environment.

Our faculty members offer research opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students in the areas of geochemistry, paleontology, sedimentary geology, hydrogeology, human health, and climate science. The National Science Foundation, National Institutes of Health, Heising-Simons Foundation, Pioneer Natural Resources, and other sponsors support these opportunities.

Our undergraduate program has two focus areas: Geology and Environmental Sciences. A summer field camp in Texas and New Mexico is part of the Geology education. The multidisciplinary graduate program consists of two masters programs and one Ph.D. program in Environmental and Earth Sciences.

Our faculty and staff are also engaged in events and activities that connect the community to Earth and Environmental Science education. Feel free to contact us; we are eager to hear from you!

Best regards,

Arne Winguth
