The Big Event

The largest day of community service at UTA!

About The Big Event

The Big Event plans, implements, and participates in three annual days of community service and outreach involving students, faculty, staff, and community members to engage, educate, and mobilize volunteers throughout the community. The Big Event Planning Committee impacts the community by bringing the campus together to show gratitude to those who help others.

The Big Event

At the university’s largest day of service, enthusiastic volunteers participate in various service project sites such as painting, landscaping, youth development workshops, facility cleanup and more all on one BIG day. The Big Event day of community service has seen tremendous growth since its first event in 2000. Participation grew in 2019 to reach more than 1150 volunteers who completed projects at more than 112 different agency project sites and donated over four thousand hours of service to the community.
