Canvas Students

Welcome to Canvas! We are excited to share this new learning management system with you, as Canvas offers an intuitive interface design and easy navigation, integrates a number of apps and programs, allows for video chat for feedback from your instructor and student responses, integrates with Outlook 365, offers a highly functional mobile interface, and 24/7 user support to students, via phone or chat.

The Canvas Student page offers students an online training course that takes you step-by-step through critical tasks such as submitting assignments, viewing grades, using discussion boards and taking tests and quizzes. Students are strongly encouraged to complete this Canvas Student Orientation training course before the start of their organized Summer and/or Fall courses.

We also wish to share the excellent support offered by Canvas 24 hours per day, seven days per week, 365 days per year.  UTA students can chat or call a Canvas expert, and the expert can log in and view your screen and walk you through any issues in real time.  Canvas Help is available on your Canvas Dashboard menu as indicated by the ? icon.

Please see the Training for Students link on this site to learn how to log into Canvas, how to update your profile and start navigating this new system.  Should you have problems logging in (forgot Net ID and passwor,  password will not work or receiving an error message), please contact UTA's IT services at https://ithelp.uta.edu.

Important points to remember:

  • All Fall 2019 courses will be taught in Canvas as Blackboard will be decommissioned.
  • Plagiarism tools, Respondus Lockdown, Echo 360, and textbook publisher tools have all been integrated into Canvas.

Please be sure to download the Canvas app on your phone as it offers a very robust experience and will allow you to access your course work anywhere, and any time. Welcome to Canvas!
