Frequently Asked Questions

The CARE Team is a group of university staff from different offices who meet regularly to discuss students who might be struggling or navigating challenges. Their goal is to work together so each student receives support and help from the right perspective.

If you’re worried about a student, you can refer them to the CARE Team by contacting any representative listed on their website. All you need to share is:

  • The student’s name
  • A clear description of what you’ve noticed or why you’re concerned

Even if you’re not sure whether the situation is serious, it’s okay to share what you’ve observed – more detail helps the team understand the context of the concern.

Once a referral is submitted:

  1. The CARE team receives the student’s name and ID and shares this with the Team before their weekly meeting.
  2. The Team discusses the concern together.
  3. The Team considers what support may help, and then someone from the Team is assigned to follow up with the student directly.
  4. The Team continues to check in over time so the support remains coordinated.

Please Note: Counseling and Psychological Services may offer guidance to the CARE Team, but they cannot share private health information unless the student provides written permission – except in very rare emergency situations.
