The University is committed to providing quality programs and a good working environment for our employees. The Exit Interview Program is designed to identify work environment issues that contribute to retention and turnover, such as providing insight into the success of recruiting efforts, the effectiveness of University benefits, compensation and training programs, as well as information on the quality of work life.  In addition, it provides exiting employees an opportunity to voice concerns and make suggestions.

What is the Program?

All separating employees should complete an Exit Interview Questionnaire and a Separation Clearance Checklist as well as comply with any departmental exit requirements.  Completion of the Exit Interview Questionnaire is highly encouraged, but not mandatory.

Application of this Program

Supervisors are urged to encourage all regular employees who are leaving employment at the University or transferring to another department within the University to participate in the Exit Interview Program. Supervisors should notify the Office of Human Resources as soon as they are aware that an employee is leaving their department or section. With appropriate advance notice an appointment can be set prior to the employee's leaving should the employee wish to complete a face-to-face interview rather than completing the survey electronically.

 Departments are responsible for the following.

  • Collecting data at the departmental level upon separation. 
  • Ensuring collection of university assets from the employee and the completion of the Separation and Clearance Checklist.  (The original Clearance Checklist form should be sent to Human Resources.)
  • Distributing the Exit Interview Questionnaire information to each separating employee.

Where is the Exit Interview Questionnaire?

All exiting employees are strongly encouraged to participate in this program.  Employees leaving UT Arlington can complete the Exit Survey Questionnaire online, by scheduling an Exit Interview with an Employee Relations representative, or by printing out a hard copy and returning the completed form to:

What Happens to the Information Presented in the Questionnaire or During the Interview?

If the information received suggests a violation of university policy or similar critical concern, Employee Relations or the Office for Equal Opportunity will immediately follow up with the appropriate department.

If an employee agrees that others may review exit interview information, a copy of the completed questionnaire will be sent to the appropriate department or office head; otherwise, all information collected is for data and statistical purposes only and is confidential.  Collective suggestions and/or concerns may be addressed or shared with departments as necessary, but will not be subject to any one specific person.
