FTIC Advising & Registration

Advising

Academic advising is required before new students can register for classes. The Division of Student Success provides academic advising for freshmen both declared majors and undeclared, students in the Coordinated Admissions Program for UT Austin (UT CAP) and transfer students with less than 24 credit hours. Students will be notified by UTA email to complete an academic advising canvas course for advisement. In the meantime, students should submit official college transcripts or test scores to UTA for previous credits earned and take required placement exams (i.e. TSI, ALEKS).

Registration

Course registration can occur once you have (1) completed the pre-orientation modules, (2) completed any testing requirements such as TSI or Math Placement (ALEKS), (3) have completed the academic advising canvas course and (4) you've resolved any registration holds on your MyMav Account. While course registration is available for students at Orientation, do not wait until Orientation to register. Please contact your advisor should you need assistance with registration prior to or after Orientation.
