Transfer Student Support Services

The Office of New Student, Transfer, and Family Program works to support, educate and advocate for the needs of former Transfer students. Our office collaborates with students, faculty, staff and community leaders to ensure UTA is a transfer receptive institution that values their cultural wealth, wellbeing and success.

Our Aim is to:

  • Build community among former transfer students and the campus community
  • Share Transfer relevant information, resources and services to help empower student advocacy and choice
  • Strategic collaborations and partnerships that are impactful to the transfer student experience
  • Advocate and support the needs, transition, adjustment and connection of former transfer students


Transfer Students Defined

Transfer Student Services defines transfer students as degree-seeking students who have enrolled at the university after attending another institution. This includes:

  • Students transferring from a 2-year college to a 4-year institution
  • Students transferring from one 4-year institution to another 4-year institution

A former transfer student is a student who has successfully transitioned from a previous institution and is now fully engaged in and committed to the Maverick community.

Tau Sigma Transfer Honor Society

Tau Sigma is the National Honor Society exclusively for Transfer Students! This organization is designed to recognize and promote transfer students' academic excellence and involvement at four-year universities.

Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society

The official honor society for students in a two-year college, Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) recognizes the academic achievement of college students and provides opportunities for its members to grow as scholars and leaders.
