SuccessU: Early Arrival Experience

SuccessU is UTA’s early arrival experience, led by the Division of Student Affairs (DSA) in partnership with the Division of Student Success (DSS). This program is designed to help you prepare academically, connect to campus, and successfully begin your first semester.

While SuccessU is a free program available to all incoming students, it is most impactful for students who have already begun building connections and confidence through extended orientation opportunities like Blaze Camp.


What You’ll Gain:

Get creative and make it yours by personalizing photo dry-erase boards and designing custom metal or digital street signs to showcase your Maverick style!
Kick off your Maverick journey with the Career Development Center. In this interactive session, you will learn to align your personal interests with future career paths and discover how to translate campus experiences into vital career-ready competencies.
Join us for an engaging and interactive academic coaching workshop designed to help students take control of their academic journey through intentional goal setting. Participants will learn how to identify meaningful academic and personal goals, apply the SMART goal framework, and create actionable plans that support success throughout the semester.
Provides academic accommodations for students with disabilities and other diagnoses in the classroom, dining, and housing.
This session educates participants on the importance of understanding their strengths and growing edges to create impactful leaders while also emphasizing that leadership is a process, not a position.
Introduces UTA students to the importance of managing stress through a holistic approach to wellness. Students learn that wellness extends beyond physical health. Explores common sources of college stress, explains how stress affects the body and performance, and provides practical strategies for maintaining balance, healthy coping skills, relaxation techniques, and building supportive relationships.

Evening Options: Kinkfolk Kickoff
Playfair is an interactive experience filled with games, music, laughter, and opportunities to meet hundreds of new students. Special appearances from UTA Athletics will help bring even more Maverick spirit to the evening.
Celebrate community, culture, and belonging at Kinfolk Kickoff! This student-led experience welcomes everyone through music, conversation, cultural engagement, and meaningful connections.

Battle of the Mavs
Meet new people while competing for exciting prizes during an evening of Maverick Bingo. It's the perfect mix of friendly competition, fun, and community building.
Dance the night away at our Silent Disco! Grab a pair of wireless headphones, choose your favorite music channel, and enjoy a one-of-a-kind party with your fellow Mavericks.
Small groups will compete in exciting games, team challenges, and obstacle courses to showcase their Maverick spirit and earn the title of Ultimate Maverick Champions.

Wrap up the day with dinner while reflecting on your Success U experience and connecting with fellow students.
Celebrate the end of Success U with an inspiring keynote from Dr. Wendy Okolo, the first Black woman to earn a Ph.D. in aerospace engineering from UTA, followed by UTA Athletics, spirit groups, Student Activities, Maverick traditions, giveaways, Aux Cord Wars, and more as we officially welcome the newest Mavericks to campus!
