Student Access & Resource (SAR) Center

The Student Access & Resource (SAR) Center provides academic accommodations for students with disabilities and other diagnoses in the classroom, dining, and housing. A student with a disability is responsible for requesting accommodations through the SAR Center and for providing supporting documentation of their disability when necessary to identify eligible accommodations. Click the button below to request accommodations.

Important Tips:

  • Accommodations at prior institutions do not automatically transfer to UTA. Students must connect with the SAR Center to have accommodations established at UTA.

  • Your student MUST be admitted to UTA before registering with the SAR Center.

  • All requests for accommodations must come directly from the student. Family members or supporters cannot request accommodations on behalf of the student.

  • The SAR Center recommends getting accommodations set up and approved before the first day of classes, however applications are accepted year-round.

  • Requesting accommodations for housing and applying for housing are separate processes handled by two separate departments. Housing assignments are made through Housing & Residence Life and the approval for disability-related housing accommodations is made through the SAR Center.

How Your Student Request Services:

  • Your student must fill out the new student application through SAR Center Online Services and, if possible, upload any supporting documentation.

  • Applications are processed within three business days (processing times may be longer at the start of the semester).

  • After the application has been reviewed, your student will receive an email directing them to make an appointment with an Accessibility Specialist. Your student MUST attend this appointment to complete the registration process.

  • Once eligible accommodations are approved, and your student submits their requests for the semester, the accommodation letters will be emailed to their instructors (may take up to 48 work-week hours).

  • Exam accommodations received within 3 days of a test date may not be eligible for accommodations. Instead, testing accommodations will go into effect for the next scheduled exam.
