About Electrical Engineering Academic Programs

The Department of Electrical Engineering offers courses that provide the student with an opportunity to broaden as well as to intensify his or her knowledge of electrical engineering. The student, with the aid of a faculty adviser, may plan a program in any one of several fields of specialization within electrical engineering or from the offerings of related departments in science and engineering.

Fast Track Program for a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering

This program will enable outstanding senior undergraduate students in Electrical Engineering to satisfy degree requirements leading to a master’s degree in Electrical Engineering while completing their undergraduate studies. The program is designed to encourage our most gifted students to complete a master’s degree at UTA and is intended to offer these gifted students, who are highly sought after by other institutions, incentives in money and time-saved to remain and complete an advanced degree at UTA.

DIRECT TO PH.D. PROGRAM FOR A DOCTORAL DEGREE IN ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING

This program will enable outstanding undergraduate students in Electrical Engineering to satisfy degree requirements leading to a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering while completing their undergraduate studies. For the direct PhD program, the program of work is expected to include a minimum of 30 semester hours of graduate level coursework beyond the bachelor’s degree and sufficient dissertation semester hours as required to complete the dissertation.

Certificate in Unmanned Vehicle Systems

The Certificate in Unmanned Vehicle Systems (UVS), offered through the Department of Electrical Engineering (EE), will educate undergraduate students in the knowledge and skills required for design, development and operation of UVS including Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), Unmanned Ground Systems (UGS), and Unmanned Maritime Systems (UMS). The certificate program will emphasize common aspects of UVS such as sensors, actuators, communications, and more importantly, decision-making capabilities (autonomy), while also covering development of domain-specific mobile platforms such as airplane and rotorcraft.
