Spotlight Student Research Forum 2019



CoLA’s Spotlight on student research is an annual forum that showcases the best of our students' research and creativity. Students present work in varying formats to include panel (oral presentation of papers), posters or renditions which include spoken word and performances . Themes will vary but must be approved by a faculty member in the student's department. Students who present their work at Spotlight earn experience in professional presentations and will be mentored through the submission and presentation process by CoLA Faculty.

CoLA’s 2019 Spotlight on student research is planned for Thursday, April 4 in the University Center (2nd Floor). Check back here for a CALL FOR PROPOSALs Fall 2018 and a detailed schedule/timeline closer to the event.






Spotlight Student Research Forum 2018



The College of Liberal Arts (CoLA) presented "Spotlight", our inaugural student research forum on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at the University Center, (multiple rooms on the second floor). This event was free and open to all UTA and public attendees. Winning Presentations and Honorable Mentions for 2018 Spotlight received notification to attend “acCOLAdes" CoLA's annual award ceremony April 19, 2018.  All other presenters will receive a copy of their judging rubric with faculty feedback.

All Undergraduate and Graduate students with a major in the College of Liberal Arts are encouraged to submit abstract proposals by the deadline annually (expect early February).  Approved abstracts will be presented at the Spring forum. Dates for the 2019 Spotlight are to be posted.

This event showcases the best of our students' research and creativity. Students will present work in varying formats to include panel (oral presentation of papers), posters or performances. Themes will vary but must be approved by a faculty member in the student's department. Students who present their work at Spotlight earn experience in professional presentations and will be mentored through the submission and presentation process by CoLA Faculty. This is a competition! All presenters are eligible to win one (1) of the three (3) Dean’s Excellence Awards in the amount of $200; one (1) award will be given in each session category. Interested CoLA students are encouraged to view the presentation guidelines and submit abstracts by the submission deadline.
