Major Exploration

What is Major Exploration?

  • A resource available to any student looking to further explore their options for a major academic area/s of study from the wide range of options available at the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA)
  • An opportunity for processing self-discovery into one’s interests, knowledge, skillset, strengths, talents, and values
  • Empowerment of students to uncover potential career paths, and make informed decisions about their academic journeys
  • The chance to engage with other students in a similar situation, faculty & staff for further information and knowledge, and a resourceful community of support throughout the process

Goals

  • Increase Awareness: Help students learn about the academic programs, minors, and career opportunities available at UTA.
  • Promote Self-Discovery: Guide students in understanding their values, interests, and strengths to connect them with suitable academic and career paths.
  • Encourage Informed Decision-Making: Equip students with the tools, resources, and support to confidently choose a major or minor that aligns with their long-term goals.
  • Foster Engagement: Build a sense of academic belonging by connecting students with advisors, faculty, and campus resources.
