Risk Management for Officers & Advisors
This mandatory course equips officers of registered student organizations with essential knowledge to identify and manage potential risks associated with group activities. Required by Texas state law (Education Code, 51.9361), the training ensures that both officers and faculty/staff advisors understand their roles in promoting safety, accountability, and a positive organizational environment. By completing this course, you'll be better prepared to help protect your members and create a more secure and successful experience for all.
Officer Essentials
This module covers the core details of leading a student organization at the University of Texas at Arlington. All organization officers are required to complete this course as part of their training. This module provides an overview of the policies, procedures and best practices for which registered student organizations are responsible.
Advisor Essentials
This module covers the core details of advising a student organization at the University of Texas at Arlington. All organization advisors are required to complete this course as part of their training. Broadly this module provides an overview of the policies, procedures and best practices for which registered student organizations are responsible and provides specific insights into the expectations of advisors.
MavEngage 101
MavEngage 101 is a module to introduce officers to all the features of the MavEngage platform and why using the platform will make running a student organization much easier! This module will also feature more information on MavEngage Mobile, which is a university wide mobile app that connects students to a wide range of exciting opportunities across campus.
Effective Officer and Selection Best Practices
This module will provide students and advisors with the information and tools necessary for a successful officer transition, a process critical to the longevity of any organization.
Financial Wellness, Management, and Responsibility (Student Money Management Center)
This course provides a general overview of policies and processes for managing an organization’s financial responsibilities through the Student Organization Finance Center. This module includes information on how to budget for your event, best practices for safekeeping of organization funds, and other important information for maintaining an organization’s financial wellness.
Introduction to Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS)
The mental health and wellness of every Maverick is important for our university, and your organization, to succeed. This module introduces you to the Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) office and overviews the kind of services they offer to our students. If you see any behaviors or speech from students in any level of your organization that are concerning, or if you think someone could benefit from a simple check-in with our mental health professionals on campus, refer and connect them to the resources found in this module.
Youth Protection (University Compliance Services)
Any event involving youth participants is required to meet additional expectations from the State of Texas and the University of Texas at Arlington. The University Youth Programs office has helped us craft a module to overview the requirements for all university entities who choose to host a program involving youth. This module outlines those expectations for organizations who host such events, as well as identifies necessary resources on our campus to assist you in planning youth events.
Branding, Marketing & Accessibility (EIR)
This training will provide you with the tools and resources you need to effectively manage the public face of your organization and help build your literacy within the marketing and communications world, all while ensuring accessibility. Whether you're new to leading a recognized student organization or have been doing it for years, this training module will provide valuable, accessible information to help you manage your organization's identity and communicate it to the world. This module provides a starting point for officers and advisors to understand their responsibility in making their organizations accessible, as well as best practices for marketing and branding your organization.
Resilient Leadership: Health & Well-being for Student Leaders (Health and Wellness)
As a student leader, you are among the busiest individuals on campus. This training equips you with a framework to prioritize your own health and well-being—empowering you to thrive while effectively supporting your peers, organizations, and community. By leading with well-being at the forefront, you can create a lasting impact while maintaining balance in your personal and leadership journey.
Enhancing Your Communication Skills (Leadership Center)
Communication is one of the most important skills in being a leader, but it is often the hardest to work on. Individuals are often in search of conflict resolution or how to avoid conflict. However, if we work on our communication style with others and take a deeper look into ourselves, others, and the work, we will find understanding in how to have successful conversations that hopefully reduce, or even prevent, situations of conflict. This training will provide you with the tips and tricks necessary to become a better communicator, which in turn can help you lead your organization to greater success!
Interpersonal Violence Prevention (RVSP)
We are committed to making Maverick Country a safe and engaging educational environment for anyone connected to UTA. We also know that, at times, situations of interpersonal violence or inappropriate interactions may happen on our campus or in our organizations. In this module, our partners at Relationship Violence & Sexual Assault Prevention help us unpack the many ways Interpersonal Violence could manifest around you and the strategies to use to help prevent these behaviors.
Responding to Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drugs (Office of Health Promotion)
This module helps students explore the realities of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs while connecting the discussion to UTA’s Drug-Free Policy. Together, we’ll look at the health effects of common substances and talk about practical strategies and alternatives that can reduce harmful consequences. The goal is to give you the tools to make informed choices, support your well-being, and look out for your friends. By the end, you’ll know how to access resources, promote safer decisions, and contribute to a healthier Maverick community.
