Incoming freshmen are students who have signed up for an orientation and plan to attend, but have not yet started their first semester at UTA

Completing your Advising Requirement is as easy as 1…2…3!

Students advised in the Division of Student Success, including freshmen, students who graduated high school in the last year, UT CAP, and transfer students with fewer than 24 credit hours, must complete the Self-Guided Academic Advising Short Course in Canvas to have their advising hold removed, receive a degree plan, and register for classes.
📩 You’ll receive your email invitation to the course on March 23.
  1. Log in to Canvas and finish the assigned Academic Advising Short Course
  2. View the advisor-uploaded degree plan in MavPlanner
  3. Register for classes!

Same-Day Advising Appointments

  • Available in 30-minute blocks.
  • Same-day sign-ups begin at 8 AM and fill on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Check in at the 1st Floor Desk, Ransom Hall.

First Year Advising

📍 Weekdays, 11 AM – 2 PM

Academic Engagement

(UT CAP, Undeclared, Major Exploration & Dual Credit)

📍 Tuesdays and Wednesdays 1 PM - 4PM
