Maverick Terry Scholars

A Cut Above

The Terry Foundation Scholarship Program does not consist merely of issuing checks once a semester; instead, it offers a sense of family and community. Here at UTA, our Terry Scholars are affectionately known as Maverick Terry Scholars to all that encounter them across campus and beyond.

The Maverick Terry Scholars (MTS) student organization is comprised of all our active Terry Scholars at UTA. MTS lives out the four pillars of the Terry Foundation on and off campus by engaging with fellow faculty, staff, students, Alumni (both UTA and Terry), and the Arlington and greater DFW community.

MTS is student-led and the driving force behind living out the Mission, Vision, and Pillars of Excellence set forth by the Terry Foundation.

Our Mission

The Terry foundation’s mission is to develop future leaders of Texas through access to education.

Our Vision

The Terry foundation’s vision is to create a community of educated leaders who utilize their talents to strengthen the state of Texas and impact the world.

Pillars of Excellence

Terry Scholars are challenged to achieve their highest potential in SCHOLARSHIP, LEADERSHIP, and SERVICE – to their university, the State of Texas, and the world. United by their common excellence and motivated by their pledge to give back to the Foundation, Scholars build their own COMMUNITY of fellowship and mutual respect on campus and as part of the ever-expanding network of Terry Scholar Alumni. These core values serve as the pillars of the Terry Scholarship Program.

The Terry Foundation hosts three events each year—orientation, the fall banquet, and the spring picnic—that Scholars are required to attend.

A SENSE OF COMMUNITY

One way to keep in touch with Terry Scholars and alumni through the country is through Terry Connect. You can follow our UTA Maverick Terry Scholars through LinkTree and Instagram.
