What to Expect on the Terry Application
High School Information including:
- Class Rank (and number of students tied for this rank)
- Class Size
- GPA and GPA Scale
College Credit Coursework including grades/scores earned and dates taken:
- Advanced Placement (AP)
- International Baccalaureate (IB)
- Dual Credit Coursework
College Plans – be prepared to provide:
- Anticipated College Major
- Why you have chosen your major
- Why you have chosen to apply to UTA
- Up to six colleges/universities you are considering (in order of preference)
Activities, Awards, Employment, and Service:
- Extracurricular activities and leadership positions (top six)
- Community or volunteer service details
- Awards, honors, and distinctions (up to six)
- Employment, internships, and summer activities
Financial Information:
Applicants must submit a completed FAFSA and list

FAFSA must be filed no later than March 15.
You will also be required to complete a full financial questionnaire.
Incomplete financial information may result in disqualification.

Eligibility Requirements
UTA Terry Scholarship applications will be evaluated in mid-January of each year. Candidates who advance in the process will be invited to interview with the Terry Foundation. The Terry Foundation will conduct final interviews and select UTA Terry Scholarship recipients. Final decisions are made by the Terry Foundation; UTA serves as a nominating body in the process to select Terry Scholars.
- U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
- Will graduate from a Texas high school or home-school program in Texas
- Acceptance to UTA as a full-time entering first-year student for the fall semester
- Be willing to live on campus in the designated Terry Scholars residence hall
- Have a strong record of leadership in school and/or community
- Strong academic abilities
- Demonstrate financial need
Becoming a Terry Scholar is a privilege
Upon selection by the Terry Foundation and acceptance of the terms of the scholarship, Scholars sign a contract and agree to the following requirements:
- Maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5 and a minimum 2.0 GPA each semester.
- Write and submit a self-evaluation letter to the Foundation each year (Scholars: see handbook for info).
- Meet all Foundation deadlines and attend all mandatory functions.
- Maintain full-time enrollment status and obtain advance permission before making any changes, including withdrawal or transfer.
- Comply with all aspects of UT Arlington Code of Conduct and the Terry Foundation Scholar Handbook. Terry Scholars should conduct themselves at all times in a manner that brings credit to the University and the Foundation.
- Notify the Foundation promptly of any and all scholarships, grants, and other forms of financial assistance from other sources.
- File the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) each year and comply with any verification requests. Also, notify the Foundation of any changes in financial circumstances.
- Keep the Terry Foundation informed of current contact information.
