Please note: These are guidelines with a hard start date and end date due to UTA's responsibility to report results to the UT System. Please complete your step in a timely manner in order to not impinge on people's time to process evaluations later in the workflow.

Important Dates:

  • March 6, 2026: Candidates going up for Tenure & Promotion in AY 2026-2027 must notify their department chair or program director. Failure to notify the department chair by the deadline will result in delayed consideration until the following year.
  • March 13, 2026: Chairs send the names of the faculty coming up for Tenure & Promotion to their Dean’s office.
  • March 20, 2026: Deans send the name (Dept, UTA ID, and Email) to the Division of Faculty Success (facultysuccess@uta.edu).
  • April 22, 2026: Candidates must submit their External Review list to the Department/Program chair.

 * A faculty member seeking tenure & promotion does not have to submit an annual evaluation separately; the aforementioned review submission will suffice.

Regents' Rule 31002: Notice of Non-renewal to Nontenured Faculty Members

Note: Deadlines for notification of tenure track non-renewal:

  • December 15, 2026: For non-renewal for faculty in their second year
  • March 1, 2027: For non-renewal for faculty in their first year
  • April 30 2027: For non-renewal for faculty in years three to five. This notice informs the faculty member that their tenure-track appointment will not continue beyond May 31, 2028.

**If a faculty member received a Renew with Reservations in their Third Year Pre-Tenure Review, then a Fourth Year Pre-Tenure Review will occur and follow the Third Year Pre-Tenure review schedule.

Failure to notify the department chair by the deadline will result in delayed consideration until the following year.

Chairs send the names of the faculty coming up for Tenure and Promotion and Promotion to Full to their Dean’s office by March 17th, 2025.

Deans send the name (Dept, UTA ID, and Email) to the Division of Faculty Success by March 24th, 2025 (facultysuccess@uta.edu).

Candidates going up for Tenure/Promotion or Promotion to Full Professor in AY 2025-2026 must submit their External Review list to the Department/Program chair April 22nd, 2025.

Regents' Rule 31002: Notice of Non-renewal to Nontenured Faculty Members

Note: Deadlines for notification of tenure track non-renewal:

  • For non-renewal for faculty in their first year: March 1st, 2026
  • For non-renewal for faculty in their second year: December 15, 2025
  • For non-renewal for faculty in years three to five: April 30th, 2026
  • For non-renewal for faculty in years three to five, the notice states that the faculty member will not be renewed in a tenure-track position beyond May 31st, 2027.

 

**If a faculty member received a Renew with Reservations in their Third Year Pre-Tenure Review, then a Fourth Year Pre-Tenure Review will occur and follow the Third Year Pre-Tenure review schedule.
