Rec Day

Join us for themed group exercise classes, educational sessions, minute-to-win-it tournaments, a movie, food, and giveaways. Campus Recreation along with CAPS and EXCEL have something for you! All programs are FREE to UTA students and will take place at the Maverick Activities Center (MAC). All programs are first come first served.

UTA's 7th Annual Zumbathon Dance for a Cause, hosted by Campus Recreation and The Relationship Violence and Sexual Assault Prevention Program. $5 registration/donation for the event. All donations will benefit The Women's Center.

Homecoming 5K

Join us for the annual Homecoming 5K! This year’s Homecoming route is a scenic one throughout the UTA campus. Both walking and running entries are accepted. All proceeds will go to the UTA Emergency Assistance Fund. Open to all UTA students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members.

Polar Bear Plunge

It’s not just an event, but an experience! Join the fun and come celebrate National Recreation and Fitness Day at the outdoor pool between Maverick Activities Center and the Physical Education Building. This event is free to students, faculty, and staff, but early registration will be held at the MAC Services and Info Desk. Pre-Registration is strongly encouraged to ensure a T-shirt. After the plunge, there will be “Survivor” T-shirt and hot chocolate at the MAC. Keeping UT Arlington “COOL” since 2011!

RecFest

Stop by to cool off and enjoy this one of a kind water themed event. Food, activities, giveaways, swimming, sports, and more all will be available. This event is open to all students and will take place on Tuesday, August 22nd from (6:00 pm - 9:00 pm).

Oozeball

Each year, the Department of Campus Recreation puts on one of the most popular traditions on campus. Oozeball, held yearly on the third Friday in September, is a one day event where students participate in a mud volleyball tournament. Over 100 teams consisting of 6 players each compete in a bracket style tournament until 1 team remains as the champion.

Bed Races

Bed Races is presented by Campus Recreation in conjunction with EXCEL Campus Activities. It is the longest running tradition on campus dating back over 30 years. Currently held in Maverick Stadium, Bed Races is a one night event on the first Thursday of every October. Teams of five push a wheeled bed 40 yards to attempt to run the fastest time. Top times of men’s, women’s, and co-ed divisions participate in a final heat to determine an overall winner in each division. Information on how to register can be found on the EXCEL website as the event nears.

Food For Thought is a series of talks that help you lead a healthier life style. Topics range from nutrition, hydration, fitness, and health.

Halloween Casino Night

Halloween Casino Night is a collaborative effort between Campus Recreation, EXCEL/Student Activities, Apartment & Residence Life, the University Center, Health Services, UTA Police, and Tarrant County Challenge. The event provides students with a substance-free Halloween party alternative. The night includes free food, drinks and Halloween candy; a mock bar serving mock-tails; music, casino games, and karaoke. A costume contest and prize raffle round out the evening. Halloween Casino Night is held annually 8 p.m. -12 a.m. in the Bluebonnet Ballroom in the UC.
