Campus Accessibility Support
UTA provides several resources to help faculty ensure digital course materials are accessible:
- Electronic and Information Resources (EIR) Accessibility Office
- Supports institution‑wide compliance for electronic and information resources.
- Center for Research on Teaching and Learning Excellence (CRTLE)
- Partners with faculty to improve teaching practices, including accessibility and Universal Design for Learning (UDL).
- UTA Libraries – Accessibility Services
- Offers tools, guidance, and support for creating accessible materials.
- Center for Distance Education (CDE)
- Assists with accessible online course design and technology use.
- Ally in Canvas
- Scans course content and provides step‑by‑step guidance to improve accessibility of digital materials.
- UTA Accessibility Resource Toolkit
- A collection of best practices, checklists, and tools for accessible course design.
Echo360 Captioning Requirements
- Echo360 automatically publishes captions only if they meet at least 97% accuracy.
- If captions do not auto‑publish, faculty must edit them until they reach the 97% accuracy threshold, then publish to Canvas.
- This practice is strongly encouraged now and will become required when new Title II virtual accessibility rules take effect in April 2026.
