If you are unable to enroll in a MATH course or receive a “permission” error during registration, first review the information below before contacting the Mathematics Department.
Many MATH courses include sections that are restricted to specific student populations. A permission error often means that you are attempting to register for a section for which you are not eligible, even if you otherwise meet the prerequisites for the course.
Select the course below to view common enrollment issues, restricted sections, and sections generally available to most students.
Please note: Enrollment restrictions for special-population sections cannot be overridden for students who do not meet the eligibility requirements.
The UTA Undergraduate Catalog stipulates that students may receive credit for only one of the following: MATH 1301, MATH 1302/1402, or MATH 1315.
If you have previously completed one of these courses and attempt to enroll in another course on this list, you may receive a permission error.
If a different course from this group is now required for your major, you will need a manual enrollment override from the Mathematics Academic Advisor.
