Earth Day Clean-Up at Randol Mill Park

Join Mother Nature to Celebrate Earth Day in Randol Mill Park, Sat. 22Apr23, 9am-Noon


The Arlington Conservation Council (ACC), University of Texas at Arlington College of Science (COS) and the Neighbors of Randal Mill Park (NORMP) are sponsoring an Earth Day celebration at Randol Mill Park (RMP), 1901 W Randol Mill Rd, Arlington, TX. Volunteers for the following activities are welcomed. Car pooling to Randol Mill Park recommended.

Activities

Volunteers for the following events are welcomed and completion of the volunteer interest form is encouraged.

Bird Walk

Early bird walk around Randol Mill Park by a birding expert, beginning at 8 a.m.

Bluebird nest monitoring at Randol Mill Park

Bluebird Nest Monitoring

Monitoring the park's bluebird nest boxes for nests, nestlings, eggs, etc., beginning approximately 10 a.m.

Litter in a creek at Randol Mill Park

Trash Pickup

Trash pick-up around the park natural areas, including the creek, pond and fields, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Greenhouse at Randol Mill Park

Greenhouse Work

Working in and around the Randol Mill Park greenhouse and garden planting and maintaining native plants, including potting sedge for use in beautification and erosion control efforts. Approximately 9-10:30 a.m.

Pollinator Gardens

Propagation, composting, planting and maintaining native plants in and around the Randol Mill Park pollinator gardens. Approximately 9 to 10:30 a.m.

Invasives Removal

Removing invasive plants in the wildflower area, and removing privet in Randol Mill Park natural areas. 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Planting

Planting native plants for beauty, I-30 noise reduction, and erosion control. Put greenhouse rocks and native plants in park gullies and along I-30 fence. Plants include passion flower and cross vine, Canadian rye grass, Texas bluegrass, pink evening primrose, etc. Tools provided. 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The Neighbors of Randol Mill Park work toward making improvements within the park and strive to raise the quality of life for its users by solving community problems and also by being proactive in order to prevent unwanted activities before they become evident.
