UTA launches initiative to increase number of faculty from under-represented minority groups

UTA has launched a multi-year collaborative project among 10 leading educational institutions that aims to increase the number of university faculty from under-represented minority groups. In the project, under-represented minority groups include African Americans, Hispanic Americans, Native Americans, and native Alaskans, Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders.

College of Education in top 3 percent of teacher preparation programs

UTA's College of Education is the highest ranked public institution in North Texas and one of the highest ranked in the state for preparing students to be successful elementary school teachers, according to the National Council on Teacher Quality’s 2016 Landscape in Teacher Preparation. UTA’s undergraduate elementary teacher preparation program ranked 24th nationally, placing it in the nation’s top 3 percent.

Be Blue for Saturday's basketball doubleheader; help fill College Park when Mavericks face ULM

Don your Maverick blue apparel, even your blue jeans and blue suede shoes, for the Blue Out when the Mavs and Lady Mavs face ULM Saturday, Jan. 21. Tip off is 2 p.m. for the women and 4:30 p.m. for the men. The men's team is 13-5 on the season and 3-2 in the Sun Belt Conference. The women are 12-4 overall and 5-1 in conference play after a 79-66 victory over Louisiana Thursday night. Faculty and staff tickets are $5 at the UTA Box Office at 2-9595 and Check out the $40-for-4 special for doubleheaders.
