Engineering Students Win Awards in ACES Competition

Engineering graduate students won four prizes, including a President's Award and two Dean's Awards, at UTA's annual ACES competition March 23.
In the graduate competition, Engineering students won the top honor and took third place in the poster competition and took third place and an honorable mention in the morning oral presentation.
Naeemul Hassan (CSE) won the President's Award in the graduate poster competition and Rashni Iyer (BE) won the Dean's Award.
Anthony Khoury (BE) won the Dean's Award in the morning oral presentation competition and Zi Wei (CE) took honorable mention.
ACES (Annual Celebration of Excellence by Students) is a university-wide, daylong event that showcases the best of students' research and creativity. Undergraduate and graduate students work with faculty mentors in their disciplines to write and submit abstracts for the competition. The approved abstracts are then turned into oral presentations or posters to be presented at the symposium.
Past presentations have featured research on gene therapy, business relations, army recruiting, pain control, better tools for builders, history, philosophy, biochemistry, engineering. They have presented works of art, literature, music, and stage performances. ACES is truly an interdisciplinary event in which any student from any program can participate.
