What to know

Senate Bill 1528

Certain immigrants are eligible to enroll in Texas public college and pay in-state tuition. Eligible students MUST meet certain criteria provided in the legislation to be considered for S.B 1528.

Any person, regardless of immigration status including:

  1. Graduate from a Texas public or accredited public high school.
  2. Resided in Texas the 36 months immediately preceding the date of graduation or receipt of diploma equivalent.
  3. Resided in Texas the 12 consecutive months preceding the census date of the academic semester in which the person enrolls in an institution is entitled to classification as a resident for tuition purposes. 

Students who are not U.S Citizens, U.S legal permanent residents, or eligible noncitizens do not qualify for federal financial assistance to pay for college.

Dreamers Council

The Dreamers Council provides undocumented students support and resources to achieve their academic dreams. The Council works to assist students before and after they are admitted to UTA.
